Why do people have food cravings?

According to science, when the body senses a food shortage, even when one is dieting, it begins to release more ghrelin, the hunger hormone, to promote a greater food intake. However, this does not mean that one is forced to succumb to hunger and overeat.

New Relationship with Food

Weight loss entails forming a whole new way of thinking about food. Engaging in regular exercise and reducing caloric intake are an important part of this new relationship with food.  However, it can be a difficult adjustment, and sometimes people need assistance.

Brain Science

Studies that look at  the genetics and neurochemistry of chronically overweight people suggests that abnormal levels of the same neurotransmitters influence both food and substance addictions. Appetite suppressants can help.

Appetite Suppressants

Reflection Medical Spa provides overweight individuals with safe and effective appetite suppressants. They work to decrease the appetite by releasing neurochemicals into the blood steam that help suppress hunger.

Phentermine

Phentermine is an FDA-approved appetite suppressant prescribed for select patients. The suppressant not only reduces food cravings. It also stimulates the hypothalamus, the gland that is responsible for body temperature, sleep regulation, and appetite control. Phentermine should not be used by patients who are allergic to it, or by patients with a history of heart disease, congestive heart failure or stroke, or by patients with heart rhythm problems.

The drug should not be used by patients with a history of pulmonary hypertension, or by those with severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Phentermine is not appropriate for individuals who have an overactive thyroid, glaucoma or by women who are pregnant or are breast feeding.

Phentermine should not be used by any individual who is in an agitated state, nor by anyone with a history of alcohol or drug abuse.

TopiramateTopiramate is in a class of medications that is referred to as anti-convulsants. The drug works effectively by decreasing the appetite . It also causes feelings of fullness to last for a longer period of time after eating. Topiramate should not be used if a patient is allergic to any ingredient, or if the patient has high blood acid levels and is also taking any medication that contains the ingredient metformin.

Reflection Medical Spa

Reflection Medical Spa prescribes both Phentermine and Topiramate under close medical supervision, to help its patients lose weight safely.  Both of these suppressants help to boost activity in the central nervous system, and to cause a decrease in appetite. This is what facilitates weight loss when accompanied by an the right amount of diet and consistent exercise.
